Funeral services for Dorothy “Dot” Copeland Roe, 83, of Twin City, will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Twin City First Baptist Church with Rev. Max Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in Long Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twin City First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 1 p.m. until the time of service. She died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Greenhouse at Calvary.
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Copeland Roe was born on December 16, 1933 in Garfield to the late Buford and Mattie Cannady Edwards. She was a long time member of Twin City First Baptist Church. A supervisor at Swainsboro Sportswear for many years, Roe was a member of the Eastern Star Women’s Auxiliary, the Garfield Garden Club, and the Gleaners Sunday School class. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hugh W. Copeland and Thomas Roe; sister, Eudine Johnson; and brother, James Edwards.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Copeland (Ronald) Ussery of Columbus and Susan Copeland of McDonough; one son, Hugh (Deborah) Copeland Jr. of Acworth; one sister, Grace Edwards Royal; six grandchildren, April Christina Smith, Kelly Copeland, Daniel Henry, Rachel Copeland, Paul Henry, and Zachary Copeland; four great-grandchildren, Madelyine Carr, Sophie Smith, Holden Henry, and Abigail Henry; and nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers are Tommy Durden, Greg Johnson, Allan Atkinson, Wayne Cannady, Lewis Holland, and Nick Harvill.
Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
