by | March 15, 2017 5:32 pm

On March 15, Swainsboro Police Department officers were dispatched to Longview Road in reference to shots fired. Officers arrived on the scene within a matter of minutes.

Upon arrival, officers observed a red Dodge Charger in the roadway occupied by one person. Officers immediately approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, later identified as Tyron Cochran Jr., 41, of a Swainsboro address, who was behind the wheel, having been struck by gun fire. Officers observed multiple holes in the driver side door and quarter panel. These holes were consistent with bullet entries. Medical assistance was immediately rendered to Cochran by officers on the scene as medical services were dispatched.

Upon arrival, medical personnel removed Cochran and transported him to Emanuel Medical Center. Approximately 15 minutes later, law enforcement was notified by the Emanuel County coroner that the victim had died.

Multiple agencies are conducting an investigation of events leading up to the tragedy. Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact Swainsboro Police Department at 237-8967 or the anonymous tip line at 237-0800.
