Funeral services for Thomas “Douglas” Flanders, 85, of Evans will be held Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 from 1 p.m. until the time of service. He died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at the Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Thomas “Douglas” Flanders was born in Adrian on March 13, 1931 to the late John R. and Annie Sumner Flanders. He served in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War. After working at Savannah River Plant for more than 30 years, he retired as a shift supervisor. Flanders enjoyed golf, working on cars, and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Yvonne Flanders, and brother, Johnnie Paul Flanders.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas “Mitchell” (Melissa) Flanders of Lilburn, Michael Phillip “Phill” (Laura) Flanders of Stone Mountain and James Vaughn “Ryan” Flanders of Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Nathanial Vonryan “Nate” Flanders, Trevor Douglas Flanders, April Mason and Christopher Watson.

Pallbearers are Mitchell Flanders, Phill Flanders, Ryan Flanders, Nate Flanders and Trevor Flanders.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
