Charles McMillan “Mac” Chappell, 54

Funeral services for Charles McMillan “Mac” Chappell, 54, of Swainsboro were held Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Swainsboro First United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at the Emanuel Medical Center.

Mr. Charles McMillan “Mac” Chappell was born March 5, 1962 in Swainsboro to the late Henry Edenfield Chappell Sr. and Mary Ruth McMillan Chappell. He was a 1981 graduate of David Emanuel Academy and was voted Most Likely to Succeed by his graduating class. Chappell was the manager of the Swainsboro Golf and Country Club for many years. One of his greatest loves was teaching the game of golf to his junior golfing students. He founded the Junior Pine Tree Festival Golf Tournament, was strong in his faith, enjoyed studying his Bible, and shared the faith with all who would listen.

Survivors include his son, Charles M. “Charlie” Chappell Jr. of Swainsboro; and three brothers, Henry E. “Hank” Chappell Jr. and Chris “Bull” Chappell, both of Rosemary Beach, Fla., and William Clay Chappell of Bogart.

Pallbearers were Chris Johnson, Todd Hutchinson, Scott Callaway, Frank Wimberly, Jason Farmer, and Robert Wren. Honorarypallbearers were members of the Swainsboro Country Club Men’s Golf Association.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
