Dr. Dee McKinney was recently named Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning. She will officially take the position November 1, 2016. Dr. McKinney will be responsible for directing the college’s teaching and learning program and for eLearning. She will report jointly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Information Technology.
“I’m excited about this position because it’s not just about face to face teaching or online teaching,” said Dr. McKinney. “it is about researching and sharing what works best in all types of classrooms with students who have a wide range of experiences. One of the joys of working at East Georgia State College is that we focus on teaching excellence. We get to know our students on a level that’s different compared to larger institutions. I want to help all faculty invigorate their teaching and advance their professional development, and I fell this position allows me to serve as both a mentor and collaborator in those efforts.”
With decades of experience in teaching and learning practices, Dr. McKinney is recognized state-wide for her comprehensive knowledge of instructional technologies, educational best practices, instructional resources and multimedia hardware and software to support instruction.
“EGSC is fortunate to have her expertise to guide our efforts to enhance both online and face to face teaching,” said EGSC President Bob Boehmer.
