James “Leonard” Long, 63

Funeral services for James “Leonard” Long, 63, of Kite will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Louis Pearce officiating, assisted by Rev. Ray Jenkins. Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Emory Fennell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 from 2 p.m. until the time of service. He died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. James “Leonard” Long was born in Swainsboro on June 23, 1953 to the late James Leo and Sara Fennell Long. He was the owner/operator of his own trucking company for many years, and he was a member of Oak Chapel Church. Long enjoyed woodworking and fellowshipping with his church family, but his family was the joy of his life.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sandra Boone Long of Kite; one daughter, Marlena Long (John) Brantley of Buford; two sons, Jon (Lyn) Long of Springfield and Bud (Heather) Long of Lilburn; one sister, Joyce (Emory) Fennell of Swainsboro; and three grandchildren, Joshua Long, Dalton Brantley and Lyla Brantley.

Pallbearers are Teddy Bailey, Chad Henry, Benjie Fennell, Jeffrey Fennell, Wendy Underwood and Joshua Long.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
