Funeral services for Grady W. “G.W.” Durden, 92, of Metter will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter. Interment will be in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. He died Friday, July 29, 2016 at Grace Gardens in Metter.
Born in Candler County, Grady W. “G.W.” Durden was the son of Grady and Vella Durden. He was a farmer and member of the Metter First Baptist Church. Durden was a veteran, having served in World War II. He earned two bronze stars during his time in service. He loved working on his farm equipment and helping people. Durden was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Beasley Durden.
Survivors include his sister, DeLoise Froberg of Atlanta; his sisters-in-law, Jane Ellen Durden of Metter, Nadine Wilson of Savannah and Margaret Thompson (Russell) Collins of Swainsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Tommy Watson, Ronny Wilson, Gerald Lewis, Madison Durden, Donny Wells and Ricky Weatherford.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
