Funeral services for SFC Thomas W. Davis Sr., 70, of Swainsboro will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 with Reverends Louis Pearce, Ricky Rushing, and Arthur McLain officiating. Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m. He died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Carl Vinson V.A. Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. SFC Thomas W. Davis Sr. was born April 21, 1946 in Charleston, S.C. to the late Thomas Davis and Lois Thomas Davis. He was retired from the United States Army with 28 years of service, being deployed during Desert Storm. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He was also a past member of the American Legion V.F.W., Swainsboro Masonic Lodge, Alee Shrine, Swainsboro Jaycees, Lions Club, and Sons of the American Legion. SFC Davis was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Dinna Rae Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Brenda Davis of Swainsboro; son, Wayne (Belinda) Davis of Swainsboro; daughter, Nina (Jeremy) Fields of Swainsboro; sister, Barbara (Charles) Atkinson of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Brandon Peebles, Brendan Peebles, Jed Peebles, Heather Downs, April Lairsey, Sam Jones, Austin Fields and Amber Fields; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Donnie McNeely, H.G. Youmans, Hubert Hendrix, Terry Brown, Al Lawson Jr., and Raybon Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Emanuel County Veterans Center and the Georgia Army National Guard.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
