Funeral services for Glenn Henry, 63, of Swainsboro will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 with Reverend Timothy Nary and Brother Lamar Way officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home. He died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro following an extended illness.
Mr. Glenn Henry was born July 14, 1952 in Dublin to Edwin Green Henry and Grace Hickox Dupper. He showed what kind of fighter he was at age 7 when he was diagnosed with polio and spent over a year in the hospital, where he had to learn how to do everything all over again. Henry was a hard worker, working years at Emanuel Medical Center as an orderly and later working for Harveys as a bagger. He never met a stranger, and he loved people. Henry enjoyed talking to people, and he especially loved his family. He collected knives, liked fishing and watching football. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Green Henry, and brother, Randy Henry.
Survivors include his mother, Grace Hickox Dupper of Swainsboro; brother, Richard L. Henry of Macon; sisters, Debra Henry (Randy Mulrooney) of Midville, Brenda (John) Horne of Cartersville and Jan Yarbrough of Alabama; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Talmadge Yarbrough, Giles Way, Tommy Way, Chris Mulrooney, Rudy Horton and Curt Hickox.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
