Emma Jean Brinson Carlton, 71

Funeral services for Emma Jean Brinson Carlton, 71, of Atlanta will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Stillmore with Rev. Muriel Bell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery near Canoochee. She died at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur after an extended illness.

Mrs. Emma Jean Brinson Carlton was born in Miami, Fla. but lived in the Lexsy-Stillmore area of Emanuel County for many years. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Lexsy for many years. Later in life, Carlton moved to Atlanta and united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was an active member until death.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lisa Pope and Ms. Debra Woods, both of Snellville, and Ms. LaCrystal Johnson of Stone Mountain; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Reno Tapley Mortuary is in charge of services.
