Wayne HopkinsFuneral services for Wayne Hopkins, 70, of Twin City will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Beckum officiating. Interment will follow in the Pendleton Springs Cemetery in Oak Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, Feb. 1, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. He died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Mr. Wayne Hopkins was born in Swainsboro to the late Jack and Lorene Hayes Hopkins. He graduated in 1963 from Swainsboro High School, served as the mayor of Oak Park, a city councilman of Oak Park, and was a member of the Oak Park Volunteer Fire Department. Hopkins was retired from P.I. Parrish Trucking as a truck driver. He was previously employed by Bowman Trucking and Conway Southern Express for many years. Hopkins was a member and a deacon at United Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Jackie Hopkins of Twin City; one daughter, Penny Jones of Oak Park; two step-sons, Allen Brent Clifton (Dena) and Micha Keith Clifton (Lisa), both of Swainsboro; two sisters, Jackie Curl of Twin City and Janice Stewart (Sammy) of Swainsboro; two grandchildren, Amanda Jones of Oak Park and Stephanie Beasley (Tyler) of Swainsboro; six step-grandchildren, Kyla McClure (John), Tiffany Oliver (Timmy), Rhett Clifton (Morgan), Christopher Clifton (Whitney), Shay Overstreet and Anna Clifton; two great-grandchildren, Jazmin Jones and Charlie Jones; ten step-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Rhett Clifton, Christopher Clifton, Bert Stewart, Larry Durden, Gene McBride, Terry Strange and Ricky Strange.

The family would like to acknowledge his caretakers, Willie Mae Deas and Paige Rowland.
