Boatright obitFuneral services for Walter D. Boatright, 90, of Oliff Town, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev Mike Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery with military honors. He died on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro.

Mr. Boatright was born on March 9, 1925 in the Oliff Town Community, near Metter, to Benjamin Floyd and Sarah Annie Daughtry Boatright. He served in the U S Army in World War II and The Korean Conflict. Boatright was employed as an ASCS Agent with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He lived in many areas while working all over the state of Georgia. After retirement in 1986, he and his wife retired to Glennville. He served as a bailiff for the Tattnall County Court for many years and was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church, where he was the oldest male member. Boatright was  preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Stubbs Boatright; and a sister, Lillian Edna Boatright Thomas.

Survivors include nephews, Charles (Bonnie) Thomas and Glenn (JoAnn) Thomas, all of College Station, Tex.; and several cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Jenkins, Joe Skeens, Kenneth Waters, Alan Whiten, Andy Whiten, and Justin McLeod.

Morris and Ann Whiten wish to thank the caregivers and friends at Ogeechee Area Hospice and Willow Pond Senior Care, who gave so much support and who gave Boatright their loving care and support in the twilight of his life.
