Virginia T. Nasworthy, 89

Nasworthy obit   Funeral services for Virginia T. Nasworthy, 89, will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery. She died Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.

   Mrs. Virginia was born in Swainsboro to the late J. Leon and Sarah Cooper Thompson. She graduated from Swainsboro High and was owner/operator of “Miss Virginia’s” Day Care for many years.  She was a member of Swainsboro First Baptist Church, the Agape Sunday School Class and was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Luther M. “Jr.” Nasworthy.

   Survivors include one daughter, Jahala Nasworthy Cumbee (Tim) of Twin City; two sons, Glenn Nasworthy (Diane) of Monticello and Lyn Nasworthy (Reba) of Swainsboro; one sister, Joyce Salter of Waynesboro; one brother, Charles Thompson (Dawn) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Chad Nasworthy, Nicole Allen (Wayne), Jeremy Nasworthy (Ashley) and Allen Nasworthy; seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

   Pallbearers are Jeremy Nasworthy, Allen Nasworthy, Chad Nasworthy, Tim Thompson, Ted Salter and Robert Thompson. Honorary Escorts will be children of “Miss Virginia’s” Day Care and the Georgia State Patrol Post #19 Law Enforcement Officers.

   Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Swainsboro First Baptist Church, 240 West Main St., Swainsboro, GA  30401.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors had charge of arrangements.
