Georgia “Moot” Gunn, 91

   Funeral services for Georgia “Moot” Gunn, 91, were held Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Rountree Island Missionary Baptist Church in Midville with Pastor Richard Lawrence officiating. Interment was in the Kirkland Cemetery in Summertown. She died June 9, 2015.

   Mrs. Gunn was born in Summertown to the late John Lawrence and Leatha Lawrence on March 15, 1924. She worked at McKinney Pond for several years. At a very young age, she joined Rountree Island Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an usher. In her lifetime, she devoted her time to helping and caring for others. She loved flowers and cared for her grandchildren. She also loved the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Ann Carswell, and a sister, Mamie Seays.

   Survivors include her children, Mae Mack of Swainsboro, Valorie Sherrod of Swainsboro, Willie Lee Lawrence of Raleigh, N.C., Arthur Gunn of Dublin, and Mary Summerlin of Metter; siblings, Alzatie Brown of Statesboro, Amos Strowbridge of Statesboro, Lonnie Strowbridge of Statesboro, and Hannah Williams of Statesboro; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

   Pallbearers were grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Rountree Island Missionary Baptist Church.

   Jogresan Mortuary Inc. of Wadley had charge of arrangements.
