Howard McCook, 76

McCook obit   Funeral services for Howard McCook, 76, of Twin City, will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Peebles Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating. Interment will follow in Whetsell Cemetery near Twin City. He died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at Pruitt Health and Rehab after an extended illness.

   Mr. McCook was born in Irwinton, Wilkinson County, and lived most of his life in Twin City. He was a self-employed brick mason by trade, was an investigator with the Emanuel County and Jenkins County Sheriff’s Departments and a Mason, Swainsboro Lodge #244. Mr. McCook was preceded in death by his sons, James McCook and Ronnie McCook, and parents, Daniel and Erinnie McMullen McCook.

   Survivors include his wife, Billie Brown McCook of Twin City; one son, Gene McCook (Mona) of Twin City; one sister, Reba Wesley of Irwinton; five grandchildren, Kelly Brockway (Kevin), Scott McCook, Wesley Beasley, Chase McCook and Gena McCook; three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

   Pallbearers are Billy Cowart, Brooks Collins, Casey Cowart, Chris Cowart, Bill Cowart and Ricky Collins.

   Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Betty S. Gambrell Animal Shelter, P O Box 1637, Swainsboro, GA  30401.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors has charge of arrangements.
