Grand Jury returns 10 true bills

The April 2014 term of the Emanuel County Grand Jury convened Tuesday, April 22, 2014 with The Honorable Kathy S. Palmer presiding. Judge Palmer appointed Wade Bedingfield to serve as bailiff and Jimmy Dorsey to serve as foreperson. The grand jurors elected Meagan McNicholas as assistant foreperson and Lori Hicks as clerk.
The District Attorney’s Office presented ten bills of indictment to the Grand Jury, with the Grand Jury returning true bills for all cases.
Inspection of the county offices and buildings will be conducted by this Grand Jury; therefore, the grand jurors formed committees to conduct that business. The committees consist of the Sheriff’s Office and Jail Committee, the Courthouse Committe, the Board of Tax Equalization Committee, the Board of Education Committee, the Hospital Committee and the Roads and Bridges Committee.
There being no further business, the Grand Jury recessed until Monday, June 30, 2014 at 9 a.m.
True bills are as follows:
Brandon Fernando Hopkins – one count possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Christopher Levert Usery – one count possession of cocaine.
Randall L. Newkirt – one count violation of Georgia Employment Security law.
Christopher Obearon Thomas – one count possession of weapon by inmate.
Jellont Jerry Walker – one count possession of piperazine, two counts criminal attempt to commit the offense of furnishing prohibited items to inmates.
Joseph Rico Turner – one count cruelty to a child in the first degree, one count aggravated battery, one count false imprisonment, one count aggravated assault.
Tiffany Amber Slater and Eric Shane Yeomans – one count burglary in the first degree.
Gregory Paul Moore II – two counts theft by receiving stolen property.
Gregory Paul Moore II – one count theft by receiving stolen property.
Eric Shane Yeomans – one count burglary in the first degree.
