       A badly decomposed body was found Wednesday afternoon behind the Boy Scout Building on South Railroad Avenue in Twin City. According to Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens and Twin City Chief of Police Johnny Lane, it could take weeks to make a positive identification. The case is under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

    Emanuel County Sportsman’s Club recently honored Vernon W. Hardy as “Sportsman of the Year” for his continuous active participations and assistance to the club. Kyle Hostillo, vice president, presented a plaque to Hardy during the annual Valentine banquet held at H.G.      The Swainsboro Tigers matched up with the New Hampstead Phoenix this past Saturday night in the Tigers’ Den in the first round of the state playoffs and needed a frantic finish to extend their season in a dramatic 53-52 victory.       Baseball season is underway and the Swainsboro Tigers split their opening two games of the season, winning against Vidalia 6-4 and losing to Dublin 13-9. Senior top starting pitcher Keith Stevens toed the rubber against Vidalia and limited the Indians to one earned run in 6.1 innings.      Funeral services for Milton Russell Sheppard, 90, of Kite were held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2014 with Rev. Arthur Conley officiating. Interment was in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery near Kite. He died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.
