Dr. Okpala joins EMC

Dr. Ogochukwu A. Okpala, MD, MPH will be joining Dr. Rosalyn Banks-Jackson in the Emanuel OB/GYN on March 1, 2014. SHe comes to the area after being attending physician in the OB/GYN department of Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, Del. She also worked for Pathfinder International in Abuja, Nigeria as part of a project of the MacArthur Foundation, as well as with Christiana Care Health Systems in Newark, Del. and Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, Mass. A native of Ibadan, Oyo State in Nigeria, she earned her bachelor’s of science degree in Biochemistry from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1998, then went on to complete a dual MD degree program at Dartmouth Medical School with Brown University in Hanover, N.H., then earned her MPH in International Health from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Mass. She earned her MD degree in medicine from Brown University Medical School in Providence, R.I. in 2003.

   Dr. Okpala is a member of the American College o Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, a fellow with the American Association of University Women, and a member of the American Medical Women’s Association. She has volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington, Del., the Massachusetts General Hospital, and many more.
