SHS Lady Tigers closed out their terrific Sweet 16 season with an awards banquet this past week. Four Tigers made the All-Region team; Jalen Allen, Sierra Peebles, Kaylee Brown, and Savannah Jackson all garnered this selection. It is of note that all of these players are under-classmen and plan to return next season. Second team, All-Region selections are: Catelyn Sherrod and Keona Rogers. Senior Whitney Brewer was an Honorable Mention.

As far as team awards, Kaylee Brown and Sierra Peebles were selected as Co-MVPs. Brown also won the Highest Batting Average Award, hitting .409. Peebles won the award for Best Pitcher with a 2.09 ERA. Catelyn Sherrod won the Gold Glove Award and Savannah Jackson won the Coaches Award.

The Lady Tigers finished with a 19-12 record, won 2nd place region honors, and made it to the second round of the state playoffs. Expectations will be high for next season as the team will bring so man key players back, and just as importantly, experience at playing winning softball.

“We will be returning seven starters next year and we are looking to make another run at the state tournament,” said head coach Rusty Brown. “The girls are already hard at work in the weight room and already asking when we will get started again.”
