SECRD Midget Football Allstars named runner-up

The Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department’s Midget Football Allstars played in the Lyons Recreation Department’s Football Bowl on Saturday, November 23 at Booster Stadium (The Pit) in Lyons.
The team defeated Lyons 19-6 in their first game. Swainsboro-Emanuel scored first off a three-yard run by quarterback Deandre Jackson. The extra point was no good. Jackson then threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver James Byrd. Running back Tujuandre Brown ran for the extra point. The final score came on a 45-yard run from Jackson. The extra point failed.
The second game against powerhouse Jeff Davis was a nail bitter. Quarterback Jackson scored on a 30-yard run. The extra point failed. Then, Jackson connected with wide receiver Javon Brown on a 4-yard pass play to score again. The extra point failed. Back Tujuandre Brown then scored on a 20-yard run. They missed the extra point. Jackson then scored on a 30-yard run but they failed on the extra point again. After regulation the game was tied 31-31, forcing overtime. Swainsboro-Emanuel scored on their overtime possession but failed to make the extra point, which turned out to be critical. Jeff Davis scored on their possession and after making their extra point claimed the Championship, while Swainsboro-Emanuel finished as the runner-up.
Swainsboro-Emanuel finished their first All-Star season with a record of 4-1. Team members include James Byrd, Tujuandre Brown, Artis Kingsberry, Tommy Porter, Bradley Oglesby, Larry Bailey, Deandre Jackson, Deandrea Miles, Kayun Davis, Ja’Rell Jordan, Javon Brown, Jaden Murphy, Kade Youmans, Kevin Starnes Jr., Christian Rosas, Tywan Smith, Nekel Bostic, Kentario Jones, Najayak Young, Logan Gay, Cobi Hughes, and Bryson Newsome. Coaches included Derrick Oglesby, Paul Jordan, Eric Bostic, Moses Shumake, David Smith and Albert Smith.
