Miss Sherrod and Mr. Woods unite in marriage

Miss Andrea Lela Sherrod and Mr. Derrick Lee Woods were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 6 p.m. at St. Philip Baptist Church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. James E. Love of Soperton.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Vernadine Sherrod and Mr. Andrew Williams, Jr. of Swainsboro.
The groom is the son of Ms. Beatrice Woods of Wadley and Mr. Lenton Sherrod, Sr. of Swainsboro.
The church and archway were beautifully decorated by Mrs. Precious Southerland with a variety of purple flowers, purple tulle and white satin bows.
Music for the special day was “Have You Ever Loved Somebody” by Brandi Norwood and “You” by Jesse Powell.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Miss Sherrod was lovely in a sleeveless white gown, featuring a peacock bottom. She chose a silver crown as her headpiece. She carried a hand bouquet of purple and white flowers, entwined with greenery.
Maid of honor was Felechia Sherrod, sister of the bride, of Swainsboro. Bridesmaids included Enphinity Sherrod, niece of the bride of Swainsboro; Ho’Zasheeia Sherrod, niece of the bride of Swainsboro; Tonya Scott, friend of the bride of Statesboro; and Littchell Valles, friend of the bride, of Swainsboro. The maid of honor wore a yellow gown, accented with a scarf, while bridesmaids wore purple gowns with matching scarves.
Jasmine Woods, daughter of the groom, served as flower girl for this special day.
Mr. Woods chose Marcus Sherrod, cousin of the groom, as his best man. Groomsmen included Larry Sherrod, Jr. and Marcus Williams, brothers of the bride, of Swainsboro; and Timothy Sherrod, cousin of the groom, of Swainsboro.
Justin Harden, son of the bride, served as ring bearer.
The bride’s mother was beautiful in a purple dress with silver heels. A purple corsage completed her attire. The groom’s mother was lovely in a purple dress with silver flats. She also wore a purple corsage.
Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted and served by Mrs. Samantha MaGruder, Mrs. Ruby Daniels, Mrs Crystal Stargell and Mrs. Virginia McKinney at VFW.
The reception area carried out the wedding theme with purple and white tablecloths. Tables were adorned with silver bell centerpieces.
The bride’s cake was a three tiered purple and white confection with purple and white flowers atop the cake.
Following a trip to Savannah, the couple will make their home in Swainsboro.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by Timothy Sherrod, was held on May 24 at El Valle Mexican Restaurant.
