At the 2013 Southeast District Junior/Senior Project Achievement Competition, Becky Amerson was awarded the Outstanding Southeast District Volunteer Leader award for the 2012-2013 4-H year. This award is given by Southeast District to recognize the outstanding achievements of volunteers for their local 4-H Programs.
Amerson is an active volunteer with the Emanuel County 4-H Program and is a member of the Emanuel County 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association. She regularly assists the Extension Office with a wide variety of 4-H Programs. Amerson is a Certified Project S.A.F.E. Shotgun Coach, and works with both the Modified Trap and Trap and Skeet teams.
This past year, she worked with the Extension Office to create workshops and activities to strengthen 4-H participation in the 4-H contests at the Georgia National Fair, Georgia’s state fair. Amerson helped with planning workshops, acquiring donated supplies, and lending her creative expertise to assist 4-H’ers with completing their projects.
“Becky was a key part in helping Emanuel County 4-H more than double our participation and entries for the 2012 Georgia National Fair,” according to Robbie Jones, Emanuel County 4-H Agent.
Emanuel County 4-H has a strong network of 4-H Volunteers. These volunteers are a valuable resource in helping the Extension Office carry out community aide 4-H programming.
The Emanuel County 4-H Volunteer Leaders association meets every second Monday of the month at the Earl Varner 4-H Center. If you would like more information on volunteering with 4-H you can contact the Emanuel County Extension Office at 478-237-1226.
