Funeral services for Sarah Washington Brown, 85, were held Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 4 p.m. at 532 West Church Street in Swainsboro with Rev. Charles Holloway officiating. Interment followed in the City Cemetery. She died August 14, 2012.
Mrs. Brown was born in Emanuel County and educated in the Swainsboro school system. She worked in the Emanuel County School System for many years. She was a faithful member of Lester Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Lester Grove Senior Chorus, Missionary Board and Mother Board. She was also associated with the Jethro Council. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Carrie Lee Washington; husband, David Brown, Sr.; son, Larry Brown; and a special loved one, Edmond Williams.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Delois Brown, Katherine Brown, Marion Williams, all of Swainsboro, Glenice Wynn of Savannah and Eleanor W. Taylor of Macon; two sons, David Brown, Jr., and Jimmy Brown of Swainsboro; two adopted daughters, Tammy Johnson of Columbus and Renee Chance of Vicalia; 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Steve Durden, Hubert Durden, Chris Tillman, Milton Wynn, Roger Richards and Timothy Travet. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
Mosley’s Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
