Ray Thomas Black, Sr., 59

   Funeral services for Ray Thomas Black, Sr., 59, of Wadley were held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Holbert and Rev. Morris Brantley officiating. Interment followed in Wadley City Cemetery. He died unexpectedly on August 13, 2012 at Jefferson Hospital.

   Mr. Black was born in Wadley and had lived there all his life. He was a certified appliance technician and a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. Mr. Black loved to fish and tend to his land (farming). He was employed at Thermo King for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lee and Ruthie Black and a son Ray Thomas Black, Jr.

   Survivors include his wife, Janice Black of Wadley; son, Charles C. Brown (Andrea) of Swainsboro; two brothers, Ernest Black (Ellen) of Wadley and Robert Black (Gloria) of Wadley; two sisters, Jessie Williams (Gene) of Wadley and Reba Fortner (R.E.) of Wadley; and several nieces and nephews.

   Pallbearers were Rodney Mays, John Cox, Gordon Mays, Jr., William Richards, Kenny Watkins and Denny Livesay.

   Memorials may be made to; St. Johns United Methodist Church Building Fund, in care of Jessie Williams, P.O. Box 503 Wadley, Ga. 30477, in memory of Mr. Ray Thomas Black, Sr.

   Smith Funeral Home of Wadley had charge of arrangements.
