Lee Anna Purdie Wilson, 76

   Funeral services for Lee Anna Purdie Wilson, 76, were held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at St. Philip Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James E. Love., Sr. officiating and Rev. Michael Thomas presiding. Interment followed at Green Cemetery . She died August 20, 2012.

   Mrs. Wilson, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., was reared and educated in Jersey City, N.J. A retired Licensed Practical Nurse, she also took religious studies at Columbia University in New York City, as well as continuing education at St. Peters College in Jersey City and Essex County College in Newark, N.J. She was a member of St. Philip Baptist Church in Swainsboro, an instructor of Young Matrons of St. Philip Church, and worship leader for the Women’s Missionary Society. She also served as Dean of Oconee Zion Missionary Baptist Association, along with her membership in the Pilgrim and vicinity Minister’s Wives and Minister’s Widows of Bulloch and Emanuel Counties; a lifetime member of the International Association of Minister’s Wives and Minister’s Widows, Inc., where she has held many offices, including regional vice president. She was also a contributing writer to the organization’s quarterly magazine, The Herald, for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Matthew Wilson, and two children.

   Survivors include two children, four step-children, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Beulah Mae Fuller and Nellie Steward.

   Pallbearers were Larry Sherrod, Larry Lockhart, Tony Brown, Michael Murphy, Tim McCalla, and Tommy Giles. Honorary pallbearers were Deacon and laymen of Piney Grove Baptist Church and Deadons and laymen of the Oconee Zion Missionary Baptist Association.

   Jogresan Mortuary, Inc. of Wadley had charge of arrangements.
