John Wiley “Big John” Wimberley, 68

   Memorial services for John Wiley Wimberley, 68, were held August 7, 2012 in Ashburn, Ga. at The House of Prayer. He died August 3, 2012 after an extended illness.

   Mr. Wimberley, born in Twin City, was a lifetime Big Rig driver. He loved his family and friends and was husband, Daddy, PaPa, Poppie, Uncle John and Big John. He requested his ashes be scattered in Honduras, where he faithfully witnessed, helped build schools and churches, dug wells, drove missionary buses, and was a mentor. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by family, friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Wimberley, Sr., and Mildred Wimberley of Twin City.

   Survivors include brothers, Henry Wimberley, Jr. (Margie) of Florahome, Fla. and Walter “J” Wimberley of Twin City; sisters, Elizabeth Hester and Sandra Poole of Twin City; wife, Helen Wimberley; children, Roxanne Perry and Michelle Sylvester of Ashburn, Amanda Wimberley of Tifton; grandchildren, Matthew Wimberley, Ashley Perry, John Sighn Sylvester, all of Ashburn, Lola and Landon Reynolds, both of Tifton; one great-grandson, “Tez” of Ashburn; and many nieces and nephews.
