Kay Hancock, 75

   A private burial was held for Kay Hancock, 75, who passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Candler Hospital.

   Mrs. Hancock grew up in Savannah and attended Agnes Scott College and The University of South Carolina. She was a member of the Junior League of Savannah, Coastal Georgia Archeology Society, and a former member of the Bluffton Town Council. She was a loving grandmother, a lover of animals, and enjoyed reading very much. he is preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Ethel Fields; her husband James Wallace McAlpin Hancock, Jr.; and her step-father Charles Lawrence Fisher. 

   Survivors include her son, James Wallace McAlpin Hancock III of New York; daughter, Virginia Bostick Hancock Gump of Bluffton; and grandchildren, Mary B. Gump, Jackson B. Gump, James W. Hancock IV, and Lyon L.L. Hancock.

   In lieu of flowers, remembrances/donations may be made to: Palmetto Animal League: PO BOX 539, Bluffton, SC 29910 or The Humane Society of Savannah: 7215 Sallie Mood Dr, Savannah, GA 31406.

   Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors of Savannah had charge of arrangements.
