Ben F. Lane, Jr., 88

   Funeral services for Ben F. Lane, Jr., 88, will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church near Garfield with Rev. Randy Adams and Rev. Ray Freeman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 -8 p.m. He died Monday, July 30, 2012 at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

   Mr. Lane loved the Lord first, loved his family and was ready to meet his maker. He was a loving husband, father, Pa and Great-grandpa. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was born near Millen and was a retired farmer. He had served on the Board of Directors with Ag South Farm Credit and had been named as Soil Conservation Man of the Year with the ASCS Office. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church all of his life and was preceded in death by his parents, Ben F., Sr. and Bessie Johnson Lane; a sister, Dorothy Bennett of Midville; and a granddaughter, Sylvia Womack.

   Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Annie W. Lane of Garfield; three daughters,  Judy Price (Ezra) of Swainsboro, Jane Corbett (Steve) of Statesboro and Peggy Miller (Jeff) of Johns Creek; two sons, Steve Lane (Ann) of Garfield and Ricky Lane of Statesboro; one sister, Ann Fordham (Jerry) of Statesboro; two brothers, Bobby Lane (Maxie) of Garfield and Charles Lane (Betty) of Adrian; six grandchildren, Zachary Lane, Ellis Lane and Justin Lane of Statesboro, Corey Lane and Parker Lane of Garfield, and Kristle Lane Taylor of Swainsboro; one great-grandchild, Peyton Taylor of Swainsboro.

   Pallbearers are Zachary Lane, Ellis Lane, Justin Lane, Corey Lane, Parker Lane and Ken Fordham. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of the Mt Olivet Baptist Church.     

   Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt Olivet Baptist Church in memory of Ben F Lane, Jr., 1593 Mt. Olivet Church Rd., Garfield, GA  30425.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors has charge of arrangements.
