The EGC Softball team will play in the First Round of the GCAA Tournament at Locust Grove HS in Locust Grove, GA at 1 p.m. on Friday April 27. The Lady Bobcats with an overall record of 28-23 entering  the Tournament as the fifth seed will take on the third-seeded Waycross Swamp Foxes (25-17). If they win, they wil play at 5 p.m. later that day.

EGC is led by Sophomore Heaven Hinton, who is among the conference leaders, batting .361 with 7 home runs and 36 RBI’s. Freshman third basemen Brinsley Screws, a Swainsboro native, is also tearing it up at the plate hitting .389 with 5 home runs and 33 RBI’s. Laura McCardell of Metter is second in the conference with 9 home runs.

Brittany Middleton leads the pitching staff with 10 wins, 91 strikeouts and a 2.89 ERA.

The Lady Bobcats got off to a hot start this season, hit a lull at the midpoint, but seem to be hitting their stride at the right time.  If the team can get solid pitching performances and some timely hitting, they could be walking away from this weekend’s tournament as GCAA Champions.
