Roy R. Oglesby, 72

   Funeral services for Roy R. Oglesby, 72, of Swainsboro will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. H.G. Rigdill and Scott Hudson officiating. Interment will be in the Lyons City Cemetery in Lyons at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors Friday, March 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. He died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.

   Mr. Oglesby was a native of Emanuel County, was the retired owner and operator of Roy’s Butcher Shop and was a member of the Emanuel County Sportsman Club.  He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Augustus and Grace Cowart Oglesby.

   Survivors include his wife, Elsie Oglesby of Swainsboro; two sisters, Betty Williamson and Mary Simmons of Lyons; two brothers, Bobby Oglesby of Lyons and John Oglesby of Alston.

   Pallbearers are Gary Spence, Talmadge Nasworthy, Randall Holder, Charles Hudson, Allen Newsome and Mac Griffin.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors have charge of arrangements.
