Collins honored at DEA

David Emanuel Academy’s Martha Collins knew that everyone was wearing red Friday to celebrate the school’s growth to over 200 students. What she didn’t know was that this day was also a day of celebration for her as Friday, Feb. 24, was proclaimed “A Day for Martha!”

The students and faculty came out en masse to express their appreciation to their beloved bookkeeper just before releasing over 200 red, white and blue balloons to signify the growing student population.

“Martha has been given 24 years of service to DEA,” said Headmaster Marion Shaw. “She’s been here through the good and bad and the ups and downs and has been the rock for our school. We wanted to thank her for all she has done and continues to do for DEA.”
