Funeral services for Billy Thompson, 65, of Nunez were Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverends Bunny Hudson and Arthur Conley officiating. Burial followed in the Eastbrook Cemetery near Swainsboro. He died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Thompson was born in Covena and a life-long residence of Emanuel County. He was a member of Nunez Baptist Church. He was self employed for 40 years as a contractor. He was preceded in death by his parents Guyton Thompson and Callie Wilkes Thompson; brother, Guyton Thompson, Jr.; sisters, Helen Paris and Clyde Canady; grandson, Joshua Gage Hackle.
Survivors include his wife, Gail P. Thompson of Nunez; sons, Keith (Penny) Thompson of Grayson, Tim (Jennifer) Thompson of Swainsboro; daughter, Heather (Josh) Hackle of Lyons; brother, Hubert (Dorothy) Thompson of Nunez; sisters, Sara Ellen (Tommy) Durden of Warrenville, S.C., Dessie Hostilo of Savannah, Marveline (William) Younker and Sara Love both of Pooler, Evelyn (James) Beckham of Wrightsville; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Lynn Thompson, Ricky Thompson, Brian Beckham, Mark Canady, Jamie Canady, Richard Durden. Honorary Pallbearers were Jamie Kirby and Greg Odom.
Chapman Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
