Miss East Georgia College Scholarship Pageant to be held

   Guests of the 2012 Miss East Georgia College Scholarship Pageant

will enjoy an entertaining evening as ten contestants compete for

the opportunity to represent the college and fully experience this

year’s theme, “A Dream Come True.”

   The pageant will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in the

auditorium of the Luck Flanders Gambrell building on the East

Georgia College campus. All previous Miss East Georgia College

Queens are invited, as well as the general public. Admission is $6

for adults and $3 for children 12 and under, payable at the door.

 

   East Georgia College students will compete for the title of Miss

East Georgia College and the winner will go on to represent East

Georgia College in the Miss Georgia Pageant, June 20 – 23, 2012, at

the River Center in Columbus. The Miss Georgia Pageant is a

preliminary to the Miss America Pageant. Volunteerism is a very

important part of the pageant system and in addition to raising

donations for the Children’s Miracle Network, all contestants must

select a platform to advocate.  

   This year’s contestants include the following.

   Janet Palma Alvarez from Vidalia is the 20 year old daughter of

Josefina and Casiano Palma. She is majoring in Biology and will be

performing a Zumba dance. For her platform, she is promoting

personal fitness and health.

   Morgan Allen from Portal is the 19 year old daughter of Timmy

and Tonya Jenkins. She is majoring in Nursing and will be

performing a drama/praise dance. Her platform is “Promoting Cancer

Awareness.”

   Alexandria Covington from Tifton is the 20 year old daughter of

Michelle Covington and James Covington. She is majoring in Nursing

and will be performing a vocal selection. Her platform is

“Missionary Work and Witnessing to People.”

   Jessica Ali Jennings from Waynesboro is the 18 year old daughter

of Stephanie Murphy and Tim Jennings. She is majoring in Exercise

Science and will be performing a jazz dance. Her platform is

promoting “No Texting and Driving.”

   Crystal Gary from Augusta is the 19 year old daughter of Janice

Gary and Tony Harris. She is majoring in English and will be

performing a dance routine. Her platform is “Sickle Cell and

Childhood Cancer Awareness.”

   CeCelia Coke from Douglas is the 18 year old daughter of Angela

Jackson and Neville Coke. She is majoring in General Sciences and

will be performing a lyrical dance. Her platform is “Demolishing

Hatred: The fight against violence, bullying and self-hatred.”

   Rachel Jane Frederick from Meeks is the 19 year old daughter of

George and Jane Frederick. She is majoring in Biology and will be

performing a Theatrical Voice selection. Her platform is

“Encouraging Blood Donation.”

   Kayla Deloach from Reidsville is the 18 year old daughter of

Carl and Rosann Knight and Dewayne and Lori Deloach. She is

majoring in Oncology and will be performing a jazz dance. Her

platform is “Relay for Life – Giving our Children Hope for the

Future.”

   Harley Miller from Waynesboro is the 18 year old daughter of

Brandy Gay. She is majoring in Early Childhood Education and will

be acting for her talent performance. Her platform is “Breast

Cancer Awareness.”

   Austin Carruth from Savannah is the 18 year old daughter of

Kevin and Cherry Carruth. She is majoring in Journalism and will be

performing a vocal selection for her talent. Her platform is

“Childhood Cancer Awareness.”
