Ruth Johnson Kent, 87

Ruth Johnson Kent, age 87, of Garfield, died at her home Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Lewis Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Sam Bowen and Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial followed in the Hebron Cemetery at Garfield.
Active pallbearers were Ronnie Womack, William Riner, Mike Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Robert Johnson and Ricky Williams.
Mrs. Kent was born in Jenkins County, a homemaker and a member of the Lewis Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clinton Kent; daughter-in-law, Patsy S. Kent; son-in-law, Tommy Wilson; two sisters, Marie Womack Craft and Ruby Patrick; and three brothers, Otis Johnson, Dan Johnson, and Fern Johnson.
Survivors includethree daughters, Ann Wilson, Helen (Wayne) Harper, and Brenda (Edward) Williford all of Garfield; a son, Robert Clinton Kent, Jr. of Garfield; three sisters, Debbie Price and Betty Woods of Swainsboro and Bernice Williams of Glennville; two brothers, James Johnson of Garfield and Joseph Johnson of Martinez; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Crowe-Fields Funeral Home, Inc. in Millen was in charge of arrangements.
