Ronnie Thomas, age 53, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at Emanuel Medical Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at St. Phillips Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with Elder Delmus Mosley officiating.
Pallbearers were Rodriguez Crawford, Eddie Robinson, Jr., Willie Smith, Jr., Ervin Street, Joseph Thomas and Robert Williams.
Honorary pallbearers were Javon Bostic, Hosea Sherrod, Jaimie Thomas, Larry Thomas, Shannon Wilkerson and Dexter Wilkerson.
Mr. Thomas joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at a very young age. He graduated from Stewart High School in 1875. He attended Fort Valley State College and received his Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1979. After graduation, he was employed with the Emanuel County Board of Education as a special education teacher. He later joined the staff at Georgia Pacific Corporation in Savannah, where he retired after 20 years of service. He joined Lester Grove Baptist Church in 1983, where he was a dedicated servant.
He was preceded in death by twin sons, Ronald and Donald Thomas; and his father, Arthur Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Thomas; two sons, Ronnie and Kory Thomas; mother, Georgia Mae Thomas; six sisters, Bonita Robinson, Ruby Wilson, Sharon Chambers, Sandra Smith, Virginia Coley and Carolyn Lewis; six brothers, Breman Thomas, Arthur Thomas, Jr., David Thomas, Rickey Thomas, Samuel Thomas and Danny Thomas; and a host of other family and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
