Wilbur Lucion Beckum, age 63 of Oak Park, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at home after a sudden illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Clint Hutcheson and Reverend Ronnie Collins officiating. Interment followed near his home in the Phillips Family Cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Billy Copeland, Joe Griffin, Kyle Wiggins, Lucky Beasley, Gary Beasley, Sr., and Arnold Lumley.
He was a native of Emanuel County, and lived near Oak Park all of his life. He was a superintendent with KBR Construction Company, was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam, and was Baptist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leroy Beckum, Sr. and Freeter Youmans Beckum; and three brothers, R.L. Beckum, Thomas Beckum, and Herbert Beckum.
Mr. Beckum is survived by his wife, Ann Phillips Beckum of Oak Park; one daughter, Michele Beckum Johnson and husband Robin of Oak Park; one son, Robert Beckum and wife Kim of Lexsy; four grandchildren, Miranda “Randi” Johnson of Oak Park, Bailey Meagan Beckum of Lexsy, Kaleb Johnson and Tyler Beckum of Oak Park; two sisters, Elouise Stuubs and husband Jimmy of Milledgeville, and Madie Conley of Eatonton; three brothers, Melvin Beckum and wife Gisele of Crestview, Fla., and Joe Beckum and wife Linda of Oak Park, and Tony Beckum of Milledgeville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Advent Church of Vidalia or The Rock Church of Stillmore.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
