Billy Ray McKenzie, 67

Billy Ray McKenzie, age, 67, of Bartow, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Jefferson Hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Parkers United Methodist Church with Reverend David Boggs officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mike Bell, Tommy New, L.C. Clark, Randy Newsome, Jr., Roger Hadden, Al McNeely, Barry Cooper and Willie James Roberts.

Honorary Pall Bearers were Wesley New, and Larry Robinette.

Mr. McKenzie, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, was retired from Thermo King after 34 years of service. He was an avid farmer and hunter, a race car owner and driver. He was a member of the Parkers United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Madelyn McKenzie of Bartow; four children, Joseph R. McKenzie (Amber), Willis L. McKenzie (Janie), Wiley E, Chance, Jr. and Jackie J. Chance; two sisters, Joann Aldred and Betty Sue Stavely, both of Bartow; five grandchildren, Liza, Nikki, Eddie, Caitlin, and Kimberly; one great-grandchild, Holli Jai; two aunts, Fannie Bell Stockard and Christine Stavely.

Smith Funeral Home of Wadley was in charge of arrangements.
