Mr. Marty Hobbs, 52

Mr. Marty Hobbs, age 52, of Kite, died Thursday, Oct 21, 2010 at the Emanuel Medical Center after a extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at 3 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenny Rowland officiating. Interment followed in the Gumlog Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Hobbs, J. J. Hall, Randall Warnock, Kip Poole, Curt Poole and Tony Slade.

Mr. Hobbs was a native of Jefferson County and a construction worker employed by Sellers Construction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lois Mitchell Hobbs; sisters, Ann Nutt, Frankie Gay and Inez Cochran; and brother, Jerry Hobbs.

Survivors include his wife, Evonne Martin Hobbs of Kite; one daughter, Amanda Hobbs of East Dublin; one son, Matt Hobbs of East Dublin; one step-daughter, Lisa Kersey of Kite; two step-sons, Howie Kersey and Joe Martin both of Kite; four sisters, Iris Chancellor of Dothan, Ala., Mary Armour and Essie Lofton both of Lumpkin, Ga. and Jane Henry of Dublin; three brothers, Marcus Hobbs of East Dublin, Johnny Hobbs of Luthersville, and David Hobbs of Terre Haute, IN.; seven grandchildren ;and several nieces & nephews

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
