The Swainsboro Tigers clinched the region championship and a #1 seed when the playoffs begin with a dominant 37-0 defeat of the Screven County Gamecocks.  Check back soon for the game story.


Chamber to have free coffee

Once again, the Swainsboro/Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce is serving “free coffee” this Thursday and Friday to football fans passing through Emanuel County on their way to the Georgia/Florida game in Jacksonville. There will be directional signs located on the Swainsboro bypass and a huge sign with balloons put up in the downtown park.

    Phillip E. Marsh, age 47, of Swainsboro, GA passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with his sister, Pastor Erlene Rowland officiating. Interment followed in Swainsboro City Cemetery.

    Pallbearers were John Henry, Wayne Hall, Anthony Douglas, Eric Douglas, Blais Chance and Richard Thompson.

    Mr. Marty Hobbs, age 52, of Kite, died Thursday, Oct 21, 2010 at the Emanuel Medical Center after a extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at 3 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenny Rowland officiating. Interment followed in the Gumlog Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

    The following is a list of all DUI citations released from files of Georgia State Patrol for Emanuel County and Swainsboro Police Department this week.

    Those cited for DUI are as follows:

    Georgia State Patrol:

    Crystal McBride, 23, of 2537 N. 89th Ave., Phoenix, AZ., was arrested October 16 at 8:08 a.m.

    John Franklin Crapps, 44, of 4732 Hwy 135, Ailey, was arrested October 17 at 1:39 a.m.
