DEA receives yearbooks

The David Emanuel Academy yearbook staff unveiled the 2010 DEA Aftermath at a ceremony on Friday, Sept. 24 in the school cafeteria.  The program began with a reading of this year’s dedication to Haleigh Marie Hudson, DEA sophomore student who passed away tragically earlier this year. After Haleigh’s yearbook was given to her parents, Scotty and Debbie Hudson, yearbooks were distributed to the high school students.

On Wednesday, Sept. 22, the DEA student body attended chapel in the school’s gymnasium. Mrs. Melissa Farthing introduced the speaker, Mr. Joe Bedgood, pastor at Dellwood Baptist Church in Swainsboro. DEA’s monthly chapel programs encourage and challenge the students in their daily Christian lives.

  • Steptoes sentenced in mortgage fraud scheme

    Brian Steptoe, 41, and Natasha Steptoe, 38, both from Emanuel County, were sentenced yesterday in federal district court for their roles in a mortgage fraud scheme that occurred in Swainsboro.

    BOE approves White resignation

    It was erroneously reported that, during the BOE workshop meeting, the board approved the employment of Erica White as a teacher for Swainsboro Elementary School.

    The board accepted White’s resignation, not her employment.

    Patrick family welcomes home baby boy

    Mitchel Dalton Patrick was born to Michael and Abbey Patrick August 24, 2010 at 7:58 a.m. He weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19 inches long. He is the grandson of Zellie Patrick Roberts of Statesboro, formerly of Swainsboro, and the late Pete Roberts; David and Lorna Patrick of Wadley and Sonny Cox of Ayden, N.C.     Southeastern Technical College is proud to announce their Summer Quarter President’s List. These students maintained a 3.75 GPA or higher for the quarter: Jim Clark, Michelle Daley, Zack Denney, Brandi Fulmer, Steven Hackle, Jamie Hall, Cera Hood, Ronald Jones, Taisha Little, Sharon Roberson, Gabrial Sutherland and David Walters.

    Numerous personnel and fund-raising requests were handled by the Emanuel County Board of Education at a workshop session held Monday night at the board office.
