Dr. Overstreet, Mr. Hooks announce engagement

Dr. Lynn Overstreet and Lisa Courson of Baxley announce the engagement of their daughter, Dr. Amber Overstreet, to Jordan Hooks, the son of Dess and Terri Smith of Swainsboro and the late Bobby Hooks.
The bride-elect is the maternal granddaughter of Carolyn Nall of Alma and the late Cary Nall and the late Bobby J. Courson. She is the paternal granddaughter of the late James W. Sr. and Martha Overstreet of Baxley. Dr. Overstreet is a 2002 graduate of Appling County Comprehensive High School. She earned her bachelor’s in health science from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 2006. In 2009 she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia. She is currently employed by Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup.
The groom-elect is the maternal grandson of Dorothy Jones of Screven and the late Eugene Jones. He is the paternal grandson of the late Edward and Lenora Hooks. Mr. Hooks is a 2004 graduate of Dublin High School. He is currently employed by Rayonier in Jesup.
The wedding will take place on Saturday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Baxley Church of God in Baxley.
