The GED Exam will be held on the following dates: Swainsboro Campus: Exam dates are August 9 and 10 and September 7 and 8.; Metter/Candler Center: August 19 and September 28; Millen/Jenkins Center: August 31; Wrightsville/Johnson Center: August 12.; Soperton/Treutlen Center: August 25 and 26, September 22 and 23; Emanuel Probation Detention Center; August 16 and 17, September 15 and 16; Johnson State Prison: August 23 and September20; Treutlen Probation

Dr. Lynn Overstreet and Lisa Courson of Baxley announce the engagement of their daughter, Dr. Amber Overstreet, to Jordan Hooks, the son of Dess and Terri Smith of Swainsboro and the late Bobby Hooks.

Hannah Goodman celebrates 7th birthday

Hannah Goodman of Swainsboro celebrated her 7th birthday on May 23 with a family lunch at Bevricks.

She began the day with her church family, with her Sunday school singing “Happy Birthday” to her.

    Jeremy Reid will be giving his initial sermon on August 7, 2010 at 6 p.m. at union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Garfield. Bishop K.E. McNeal will be presiding.

    Mr. Reid is a 2010 graduate of Emanuel County Institute. In the Fall he will be attending Andrew College in Cuthbert to study theology and psychology. He is the son of Vanisha and Johnny Reid.

    The Southern Dance Connection will begin its 30th anniversary dance year in August, so having brought home four National Championships from Orlando only a few weeks ago certainly adds to the excitement of this celebration year.

    Miss Rebecca L. Gay and Mr. Jason McNeely were honored at a miscellaneous shower at Hawhammock Baptist Church in the fellowship hall on April 25. The shower took place after the evening worship service. Hostesses for the shower were members of the church.

    Miss Gay wore a black and gray floral print knee-length dress. Mr. McNeely wore jeans and a blue and white button down shirt.
