Dr. Alan Brasher was nominated and selected for the Governor’s Teaching Fellows Summer Symposium 2010. The Governor’s Teaching Fellows program, which includes year-long symposia and residence programs as well as the summer symposium, was established by Governor Zell Miller in 1995, with the goal of improving the quality of college and university instruction in the state of Georgia. The ten-day symposium, which is conducted by the University of Georgia’s Institute of Higher Education, addresses new instructional tools and technologies alongside more traditional classroom methodologies. Dr. Brasher is associate professor of English at East Georgia College, where he has taught since 1997. Currently, he advises the EGC Book Club and is president of the board of Emanuel Arts Council.
