    The Pine Tree Festival kicked off in full-swing on Thursday with students attending events at the Swainsboro/Emanuel County Recreation Complex. One event that was well-attended and enjoyed was the Team FMC Motorcycle Stunt Show. Come out this weekend for all the exciting Pine Tree Festival events!

    The Emanuel Rangers Chapter # 2318 United Daughters of the Confederacy observed Confederate Memorial Day at the historic Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church in Emanuel County on Saturday, April 24th at 2:00 pm.     Kody Ray Stoddard, a dual-enrolled senior at Toombs County High School and Brewton Parker College, has been awarded the Georgia Division UDC Memorial Scholarship. The award will be presented at the Toombs County High School honors night, May 10.     Dr. Alan Brasher was nominated and selected for the Governor’s Teaching Fellows Summer Symposium 2010. The Governor’s Teaching Fellows program, which includes year-long symposia and residence programs as well as the summer symposium, was established by Governor Zell Miller in 1995, with the goal of improving the quality of college and university instruction in the state of Georgia.     Cammie Saige Collins, daughter of Dewayne and Brandi Collins of Cobbtown, celebrated her 2nd birthday on March 26. On March 27 Saige had a birthday party with a “Minnie Mouse” theme. A special homemade Minnie Mouse cake was made by her grandmother, Debra Collins.
