Emanuel County Sheriff’s deputies, along with other agencies, assisted Georgia Department of Revenue & Tabacco Enforcement Agents in executing a search warrant for alcohol related offenses at Club I-16 in Oak Park. The search yeilded over 600 bottles and cans of malted beverages, 17 bottles of wine, and 16 bottles of liquor, crack cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, two handguns, aand $800 in US currency.

Michael Thurmond, State Labor Commissioner, stated that the unemployment rate in Emanuel County increased nine-tenths of a percentage. The number of people filing unemployment claims increased from 772 to 858.

A county contract for bridge work on County Road 203 at Jacks Creek was authorized by the Georgia Department of Transportation. Tom Moreland, State Transportation Commissioner, stated that the contract would cover the cost of materials for the replacement of the bridge.

During a meeting of the City Council, the purchase of a new garbage truck was announced. Grady Price, city clerk, stated that the truck was needed to increase efficiency of operations in the sanitation department.
