Lewis Edwards, 74

Mr. Lewis Edwards, age 74, of Kite, died on Friday, March 26, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare of Swainsboro after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 2p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev Morris Brantley and Rev. Lamar Kersey officiating. Interment followed in the Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery near Kite.

Pallbearers were Richard Copeland, Robert Copeland, Steven Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Jeremy Gamiza, Kip Hodges, Jamey Keene and Adam Argoe.

Mr. Edwards was a native of Johnson County. He was co-owner of All Cabinets in Swainsboro, and a member of the New Life Nazarene Church in Adrian.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emory Ivey Edwards; mother, Mattie Dee Edwards Brantley; son, Lewis Hanson Edwards; daughter, Lois Ann Edwards; brothers, Herman Edwards and Lavon Brantley; step-brothers, Lamar Brantley and Lanier Brantley; step-sisters, Ruthaline Way, Naveda Powell, and Julia Nell Price.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Burris Edwards of Kite; two daughters, Kathy D. (David) Hopkins of Kite,. and Amy M. Gilbert of Kite; one son, Emory C. (Barbara) Edwards of Adrian; one brother, Floyd Brantley of Oak Park; eight grandchildren, Charles D. “Dan” (Heather) Hopkins, Jennifer (Daniel) Boston, Hanson (Julie) Edwards, Jessica Edwards, Krystal Edwards, Dakotah Gilbert, Chandler Gilbert, and Faith Edwards; and six great-grandchildren, Brittany Edwards, Gracie Hopkins, Kylie Hopkins, Gabriel Boston, D.J. Kersey, and Mercedes Hepworth.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Jeff Decker Rt. 1 Kite, GA. 31049.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
