The Georgia Forestry Foundation is sponsoring a statewide photography contest to highlight the beauty and diversity of Georgia’s forests. Photo categories for contest entries are habitat, wildlife and family. The deadline for submitting photography is April 30; however, photos may have been taken any time since January 1, 2009. According to Foundation spokesman Steve McWilliams, the goals of the contest are simple. “We hope that the contest will serve as a good way for Georgia photographers of any skill level and any age to combine their passion for photography and love of the outdoors to produce thousands of beautiful, instructive images” McWilliams said. “The 24 million acres of woodlands in our state provide the perfect studio for the competition.”

A special feature is a young photographers’ competition for those 18 and under. Cash prizes will be given for the photos chosen as the best in each of three categories. An entry fee of only $10 is being charged for submissions in each category to assist with the administration costs associated with the contest.

Submission details and contest rules are available at www.gfagrow.org or by calling (478) 992-8110 if web access is not available.
