Change of rules

The Swainsboro High School parking lot procedure has been changed this year from the way that both students and staff are so used to.
The entrance off Highway 1 is still there, but when leaving the parking lot, drivers must exit through the walkers and riders traffic in front of the school. This area is packed with waiting cars at 3:05 p.m. when school lets out and getting through is very difficult. Do Not Enter signs have been placed on the now forbidden road which has been used as an exit lane in the afternoon.
School officials have started directing traffic, but this all seems to cause some confusion. When students were first made aware of the rule, many were concerned with how time consuming this new method seemed to be. Kati Mason, senior, states, “I did not leave campus until 3:40 p.m. on the first day of school because of the traffic, so I was late picking up my little brother.”
Although it is a little more familiar with the students now that school has been in for several weeks, both students and parents are still concerned that this change could cause wrecks and become dangerous. Thankfully, it is running smoother, but it is hard getting used to something so different from what everyone is used to.
