Margaret Huffman Burrell, 88

Funeral Services for Margaret Huffman Burrell, 88, of Dublin were held at 11a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, at First Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Twin City Cemetery, Twin City at 3:30 p.m., with Dr. Cliff Morris, Rev. Harold Burrell and Dick Burrell will officiating.

Mrs. Burrell was born in Grovetown, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Fred Huffman, Sr. and the late Marion Estell Florence Huffman. Mrs. Burrell was a graduate of Harlem High School, Norman Park College, and attended Mercer University. As a Baptist minister’s wife, she served along side her husband, the late Asberry A. Burrell, who pastored churches in Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, and primarily Georgia, most recently First Baptist Church Lavonia and Twin City Baptist Church. In 1984 she began working at Transplant Nursery in Lavonia. After retiring in 1999 she moved to Dublin, and became a very active member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred Huffman, Jr., Otis Huffman and John Huffman. Mrs. Burrell went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 22, 2009.

Survivors include her sons, Rev. Harold (Joy) Burrell of Bainbridge, Dick (Vicki) Burrell of Dublin, Jim (Leesa) Burrell of Marietta; grandchildren, Hal, Jay, Britt, Becky, and Jamey Burrell; great grandchildren, Peyton, Walt, Jadie and Gracie Burrell; sisters in law, Bennie Huffman of Grovetown, Pennie Huffman of Evans, and Mary Huffman of Augusta; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were, Hal Burrell, Jay Burrell, Britt Burrell, Jamey Burrell, Ben Huffman, Johnny Huffman, Ricky Huffman and Chip Huffman. The Winsome Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home or to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church, Dublin.

Townsend Brothers Funeral Home of Dublin had charge of arrangements.
