The Stillmoreroots Group held their seventh annual Art in the Woods exhibition on Saturday, March 28. The group displayed new works by artists Mel Cartaya, Jean Gray Drake, Anthony Faris, Bryan Ghiloni, Desmal Purcell and Brandon Tatom. The day started with overcast skies in Stillmore before a hard rain fell over the woods. Art in the Woods continued all day, though, under tents with live music by local musicians Alan Brasher, Jeb Cameron, Ron Ellison, Bryan Ghiloni and Phyllis Free. At 5 p.m., the group did a short artist’s talk where they discussed the inspiration for their new works. At 6 p.m., several artists, under umbrellas, did a guided tour of the pines to showcase the art and answer any questions from those in attendance. Art in the Woods has become a staple event of the group and the community of Stillmore. This year’s show was unique because of the rain but it was nonetheless a success with friends, family and visitors all celebrating the arts in Emanul County.
